Holy CRAP, y'all.

I've seen authors do dumb shit before. I've blogged about it.

But I'm pretty sure I've never seen anything like thisSo, what do you do if a reviewer/editor posts a review on their LJ that's less than flattering to your work ( Read more... )

Stupid is as stupid does. And that was one of the biggest stupids I've seen in a really long time. *nods*

I saw your comments there, and echoed them in my head, if not on the thread (because I don't know him and felt it wasn't my place). Because, dude, that just wasn't cool. I found it via nihilistic_kid's post on the subject.

Will I be seeing you at LTUE next month?

Yes you will! :)

May need a ride down. If I do, can we carpool?

Sure! Although I have a tendency to stay til the bitter END and then go out to eat, if that's cool with you. :)

This is why pen paper and snail mail is superior. By the time you've got all three together, you've had a chance to think better of your impulses!

Yeah, I think that the instant gratification the internet affords allows people to post things they'd never ever send via snail mail or say in personal person. I'm still boggling over this, though. Because who does that???

Did you see the most recent update is that he's apparently now sending mroctober death threats? I guess he got impatient waiting for the guy to kill himself like he suggested...?

*dies* Oh. My. Gawd.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!

Now I want to see the review that spawned this...

Found it:

Kevin W. Reardon | "The Portico Angel" - a bad opening crippled this story for me plus the various relationships felt off

Suggesting someone kill themselves and sending death threats over that? Holy buggering crap...

Wow. Wow. He's...I mean, it wasn't even a review, it was just one writer/anthology editor airing very brief thoughts on another anthology on his own blog. And he didn't even say he hated it, just that the opening was bad and the relationships could've been better--that could even mean the entire story was great otherwise but those two elements made it an overall minus for him.

I mean...I understand being thin-skinned about this stuff. I won't lie, I don't like negative crit either, which I have got from the workshops I've been in. But if I'm going to rant about it I do so either in my head or in a locked post--and people have told me worse things than this!
