When I found out the common name (after, I swear, HOURS of going through websites looking), I was delighted. I'd never seen one before, so that was really cool. :)
We have checkerspots, painted ladies, monarchs, and swallowtails, along with those little orange skippers, that we see all the time, but I think you have to be in the special places to see a huge variety like this. They like damp muddy spots, because that's where they drink, and if there's flowers around, so much the better. A pond with a muddy verge is an excellent place to look, if you have such a spot anywhere around you. :)
