Antelope Island, part one.

As promised, I'm posting some of the pictures I shot on Antelope Island yesterday. Since I found twenty (out of the more than 100 that I took) that I thought worthy of sharing, I'm splitting this into two posts of ten pix each. So. Image-heavy, clearly, and ( click the magic LJ-cut for birds! )

Thank you! Every time we go there, we see something different and amazing. I still have no idea how I got that shot of the pair of Say's Phoebes; I think the one in flight showed up just as I snapped the shutter.

As for the owl, that was wholly a matter of "right place, right time," which is (probably) 90% of wildlife photography. We saw him on the nest, then wandered around for a bit, and then I went back to get a few more shots of him on the nest (which was inside an old silo)--and as I was walking up from behind, he flew out the front and landed in the little pasture area. It was so cool.
