Because, let's face it, a single tweet is not enough to contain my absolute gobsmacked-ness at what you said tonight.

And pray. There are many honey traps in Washington, and hopefully the people we just sent there won't fall into any many (because who are we kidding) of them.

Your politics and mine are so far apart but I'm fascinated by what you say. In Canada, our right-leaning party is in power and is working very hard to ensure that corporations and the wealthy get everything they ask for, while our left-leaning party is the one that cares about the middle-class. For instance, the gov't is touting a supporting families policy which will cost 2 billion annually (between lost tax revenue and payouts) and will create 0 child care spaces, but will give tax refunds to two-parent households where the income is unevenly distributed (ie only one parent works or one works part time). I know of 2 families that might benefit from that, and one of them doesn't need it (he's one of the top rated ob-gyn surgeons in the country) and the other will see about 1000$/year. This benefit will also be offered to people with kids up to 17 years - few 17 year olds need full time supervision, and if they do, that family needs a whole lot more support than 1000$/year ( ... )

Well, I'm all for letting people keep more of the money they earn, and any way that accomplishes that is A-OK by me. Ideally, for me, government gets out of the way of all but egregious abuses and leaves us alone, for the most part. "That government governs best which governs least" -- especially at the Federal level.
