Summary:
Hermione likes to watch the play of sunlight on his back and sometimes has to remind herself that, yes, she can actually touch him. That at any time she wants, she could reach out and touch that smooth expanse of skin that is so satisfyingly sensitive to every press of her fingertips.
She gives in to the urge then, tiptoeing her fingers down one flat scapula, following the straight trail of his spine to the twin indentations at the small of his back. She presses her thumbs there and imagines she has made her final mark on a sculpture set in repose.
Perfect.
Hermione runs her hands and eyes up his back and is not surprised to meet pale eyes still hazy with sleep. She breathes once, twice before he is suddenly against her lips and taking her air completely. Her lungs burn and she is half-buried under the tangle of bed sheets and his limbs, but it is exactly where she wants to be and exactly what she wants.
A lifetime passes before they are breathing on their own, but she doesn’t let him get far. The press of his lips leaves her own tight and tingling and the feeling spreads as he dips his head to slide his mouth along the curve of her collarbone. One hand burrows under her shoulder while the other slides to her hip, and he does a slow fall to her side, turning her with him.
The soft pull of her skin in his mouth is the only sound in the room beyond the blood rushing through her ears, and she closes her eyes to memorize the moment. He finishes with a chaste kiss to the space between her breasts, and she opens her eyes in the silence.
Their eyes meet.
“Good morning,” Draco says.
The prospect of many more mornings like this has her brushing a thumb along his sleep-puffed cheek.
“Good morning,” she agrees.
