Whhhhhy are you taking the GRE? It's one of my favourite, feel better about not being an American grad student issues.

Yeah, I know! But since York is the only Canadian school I would even consider doing a PhD at, I figure I need some other options. That means American options.

Oh gosh, I'm not nearly that far ahead with my thinking, but I may have to consider it sooner or later.

My MA is two years so I've got a little time in my back pocket, but I'm not entirely sure how much.

When I was washing my dishes it came to me that I should have asked the following:

Is York the only Canadian school you'd consider doing a PhD at because of your research interests or because of your opinion of Canadian PhD programs?

The other weekend I sat whimpering on the curb while my neighbour fixed my bike and talked about things I didn't understand too. But I'm getting some idea of how to deal with the Things That Usually Go Wrong With My Bike, and I think I am going to need another year or so of becoming a passionate bike enthusiast before I actually do anything about learning more. Tonight I was riding my bike and thinking amazedly that it's been less than a year since I've had one (aside from childhood and occasionally borrowing somebody's during adolescence), and when I moved to Halifax I didn't even think about getting a bike, now I don't know what I'd do without it.
