Great summary. And you're not the only one enjoying suffering Doyle here. He manages to look sexy even with the shit beaten out of him and I just love all that grunting and whimpering. He definitely does suffer prettily. And we all know that Bodie will make him feel better afterwards so it's not really that bad, right?

You're a fast reader. :-)

I just love all that grunting and whimpering.

:::thud::: It's just *wrong* how hot it all is. I might have been able to keep rational about it all except for the bondage... AUGH!

That bit at the end when Bodie finds Doyle in the destroyed kitchen is sublime - His distress and relief just radiate out of him and Doyle knows it and has to shake him out of it.
I love that! When they are apart Ray is working to help out his partner. He understands what he's going through.

I love the scene where Bodie warns Ray away from him. I read it as Bodie not wanting Ray to be harmed by the things he may do.

Great caps! I love Arthur hanging all over Crabbe!

Thanks for that!

A lot of that, but also a little bit of them both needing their own space sometimes to do what they feel they have to do - and the other respecting that... I like Doyle in this one - There are several times he just sort of keeps his mouth shut and feels the ground out before getting all worked up - Letting Bodie set the tone/pace.

I love Arthur hanging all over Crabbe!

I've always noticed that ring in these caps but never once did it cross my brain that that was his left hand... You've got me thinking hard on that one! Of course, it's clearly a continuity issue - If the character was really married (or had been once) it would have come up in the scenes they were running over his background and so forth. Still... Interesting.

As I look at your cap enlarged it almost looks like it could be a signet ring. It may just be turned a bit out of view. Crabbe gave it to him. ;) I love the way Crabbe calls Forrest ram-rod straight when he questions him about the boy. LOL

Oh... Oh, that works SO WELL for me. :)))

Ooh, much good commentary here! I agree completely about the profoundly attached feeling with the lads. It's why I kind of forget that they aren't on the screen more together. Those scenes are great.

And, yes, about Martin Shaw's performance both when he's injured and in the kitchen. Very well done.

Now, this bit: you honestly think that I can watch a frumpy, beaten, tied-up Doyle on a bed being cruelly looked down upon by twisted, most likely "bent" John Castle and not be freakishly TURNED ON?
Don't know about the "turned on" bit, but I agree that there seems to be a lot going on there that is pure story fodder. *g* Man.

And, finally...yes! Get that Torchwood camera guy to watch this! Or take lessons! Or something! *g* (But, gosh, am I in love with Torchwood....)

It's really hard for me to even notice that they aren't actually on screen together that much because the partnership is so *strong* at this point in the game. And in the early scenes, Bodie is clearly sending off "let me do this on my own" vibes and Doyle is respectful of that - Them working apart is a shared decision this time.

Shaw really did a great acting job this ep - Not that he doesn't always but it was subtle this time. Well done.

Get that Torchwood camera guy to watch this!

This really proves that it's not the hand-held cam I dislike, it's the lack of artistry they've show in using it. Less is more, people.

Yes, I am feeing chatty today. *g*

Them working apart is a shared decision this time.
I wouldn't go that far. To me, at the end of that lovely scene at the hospital, Doyle's face is more resigned to Bodie going his own way, than content with it. But definitely respect, on both sides. Hmm...and you know, there is some respect in Bodie's joyful look at Doyle in the kitchen, don't you think? Like: "Yeah, that's my Doyle. Plucky to the end. *g*)

Oh, dang, and I keep forgetting to say that I agree about John Castle and his two characters. I like Tommy better as a character, but the acting in Man Without a Past is superb.

And there are huge partner pay-off moments... That bit at the end when Bodie finds Doyle in the destroyed kitchen is sublime - His distress and relief just radiate out of him and Doyle knows it and has to shake him out of it.

I love how you worded this. It is such a great moment and Bodie is most assuredly wearing his heart upon his sleeve. Doyle and us do so love that.

I do really hate that hair. I think the character type is just "sleazy polyester-suit wearing bad guy" type. He does come off as somewhat unwashed, :O . Haven't seen the epi. recently so I hope this accurately reflects it; it does to my memory. And you know my feelings about Doyle tied up on the bed, god it's just wrong to feel like that but...yeah. I don't care for Arthur though, he's just too much like a thug to me.

I don't like him either but I *do* like the dynamic between Crabbe and him - And the tragedy of how insane Arthur is and how Crabbe loves him. Terribly star-crossed and angsty. If Arthur weren't so bat-shit crazy I might dislike him - But he's pretty far gone and there's something about that I find vaguely intriguing.
