Question for the I-Spy crowd

Does anyone own the three boxed sets of I-Spy?  One, two, and three.  Everywhere I search for information on these, people are complaining that the collections are "random".  Yet there are three seasons of I-Spy, with 28 episodes each - Which seems to correspond with the set info.

So what's the deal?  Some possible scenarios:

1.  Every episode of the ( Read more... )

I do not have the box sets, but I have the first 7 individual DVDs and plan to buy the box sets for 2 and 3 later. As far as I can tell because I've been doing episode list comparisons on them myself, the sets are exactly the same as the separate DVDs and everything's there. The random is the episode order which makes no sense whatsoever. It's not by production order, not by transmission order, it's just... random. From my poking about, though, I'm pretty sure seasons are kept together in each set.

Nope, they're not. the first season is mostly in the first box, but some first season episodes are in the second and third boxes. The second season is mostly contained in the second box, but some second season episodes are in the first box. And just in case you haven't noticed the theme yet *grin*, the third season is mostly in the third box, but some third season episodes can be found in the second box.

Thanks both of you for your input... Man, that is seriously annoying about the episode order/shuffle. But I'm glad to hear that we at least get the whole series. I guess I'll just have to keep an episode list with the DVDs and be organized about watching. Gah!

I guess I should do a little comparing/math and figure out if it would just be cheaper to flesh-out my collection of the individual discs, rather than getting the sets and trying to sell what I have or something... The space issue gets me a little bit too - It would be nice to consolidate.

You know, *somewhere* I saw an actual I-Spy, iSpy icon... Wish I could find it again...

2. Every episode of the show is represented, however the episodes are all mixed out of order within the three sets - sets do not equal seasons.

That's the ticket! I'm somebody who likes to watch things in order, so I found an episode list somewhere and then figured out where I could find each one. The first box is about 2/3ds first season episodes (though horribly out of order) but some critical character developing episodes are in the second and third boxes. I think all the second season episodes are in the first and second sets and all the third season are distributed among the second and third sets, but I could be wrong about that. I find it all terribly irritating when trying to decide what to watch, but the second I make a choice and settle down with some Kelly/Scotty goodness, the irritation just melts away. I'm still happy I invested in them.
