Emma sat behind a large oaken desk, the dark wood making her seem all the more stunning and cold. This SHIELD agent had barely come with a forewarning; they’d received a phone call about the whole situation only an hour before Sharon arrived, usual SHIELD style. Emma was a practiced telepath, one of the best, if not the best now that Jean was deceased and Xavier had all but ‘retired’. She could easily hold multiple conversation in her head while also holding one out loud. The awkward long silence was a message though, they were doing nothing to make the woman feel welcome. It was fueled by something like bitterness, bitterness directed at SHIELD, which, unfortunately for Sharon, she personified right now
( ... )
Questions? Hell yes, she has questions. Why is Fury in hot water this time? How bad does it have to be before she can't even be assigned to watch Steve? Who's watching that idealistic idiot now?
And yes, she knows Frost likely heard all that. She doesn't care. If shit's going down at SHIELD, it won't be long until it comes for the mutants. And Emma obviously knows that this whole liaison gig is ridiculous. The X-Men aren't part of SHIELD, and SHIELD doesn't have any jurisdiction over them. Mostly, Sharon's existence there will be limited to making sure SHIELD and the X-Men don't trip over one another, and given how often that happens, she's sure she has exciting times ahead of her.
"I'm good. And thank you, Dr. McCoy. The tea was very nice." And not just the tea. Despite the jarring image of the blue fur, Sharon found herself rather liking the doctor.
"Logan." A smirk crept across her face. So he was as happy with this assignment as she was.
Emma's cold smile remained in place, but it was obvious she was just about done with this whole meeting.
Hank, however, was ever the gentleman, raising his giant hands and giving her a sheepish, but welcome smile. "Oh, no need to thank me, my dear. Did you have luggage? Logan and I can help you with it. I believe you'll be staying in the room adjoined to Logan's. Don't worry, the hall is all teachers, the students are on another floor entirely. Hmm..." Beast paused and looked between Sharon and Logan, trying not to shake his head at how ridiculous this would be. "Maybe I should get the luggage and you start her on a tour, Logan?"
"Maybe I should shove my-..." Logan started in a low growl, and if looks could kill, the glare he was giving Beast right now would have obliterated the man. He cleared his throat and straightened a bit, getting up from the chair and stretching even though he'd only been sitting for a few minutes. "Yea. Sure. C'mon... what was it? Sharon, right? Carter?"
"Either one. Or Agent 13." Because whether she was in trouble with SHIELD or not, she was still an agent, damn it.
"I've only got one bag, Dr. McCoy. Don't worry about it. If someone shows me where I'm staying, I can take care of it myself."
She turns to Frost. "Thanks for your hospitality, Ms. Frost." Unlike her tone with Hank, she no longer sounded warm. Her tone, in fact, matched Emma's.
The dining hall is large, but there are already a handful of people meandering around, helping to set up the table while they wait for the food to be served. The smell wafting from the kitchen has drawn out a lot of hungry students, and anytime Remy and Rogue take cooking duties almost no one misses dinner. The one smell that's been brewing all day and filling the mansion with delicious smells is the cajun gumbo that's been simmering on the stove since the morning.
The myriad of colorful and curious mutants clash against the elegant stylings of the dining room, a few sparks and other powers flying around, plates and silverware floating to their spots and one or two people perching on their chairs instead of sitting.
The food is just being brought out when Logan wanders into the dining hall, taking his usual seat by Ororo, who immediately leans over to quietly ask if 'the SHIELD woman will be joining them' to which Logan just shrugged and told Ororo she'd been invited, but he really wasn't sure.
Sharon hadn't meant to be late, but there'd been a call from SHIELD promptly at seven. She suspected it had been done on purpose, but she couldn't begin to fathom who might want to screw up her position here. Wasn't it already bad enough?
She enters the hall when food is already on the table, dressed down in jeans and a sweater. She hadn't wanted to alarm the students by showing up in uniform. And if any of the students alarm her, she certainly doesn't show it.
She makes her way to the empty chair beside Logan but doesn't sit. "Sorry I'm late. Is this seat taken?"
Once the food was served no one really took much notice of who was coming or going. There really was no 'late' until the leftovers got moved to the fridge.
Logan was on his second helping of gumbo and enchiladas and his third beer when Sharon slipped up to the table. Most were busy eating, but she did earn a few curios looks.
"Hey. Good of you to show," He teased lightly as Ororo leaned around him, giving Sharon a welcoming smile. "Please," She said, motioning to the empty seat, "It's good to finally put a face to a name. I'm Ororo. How are you settling in?"
Sharon smiled at Ororo. "Very well, thank you. I know it isn't easy having me here, but so far the only appalling thing has been Logan thinking he can beat me at anything."
She excused herself briefly while she got some gumbo and enchiladas, then returned and started eating hungrily.
"Holy crap. This is much better than the food on the Helicarrier." She'd been doing so well with her manners until then, but what she lacks in diplomacy she makes up for in enthusiasm.

She gets to her feet to follow Logan.

As much enthusiasm as she ever shows, at least.
