HA!

Dec 20, 2006 23:01

The lay eucharistic minister at my church, who also happens to be a priest in training, took me out to supper at the Indian restaurant with her girlfriend, ordered a Merlot, offered to watch "The L Word" with us, and lent me a Rita Mae Brown book about growing up gay.

I am so in love with my church.

episcopalians, being out, bisexuality, queer, amusement

Wow. I'm Catholic, so the thought of a gay-priest-in-training is absolutely foreign to me. XD Oh, Catholocism. But that's AWESOME. :D It's great that your church actually accepts people. That must rock.

It *is* awesome, innit? XD And she and her girlfriend were really, really, really cute together, and I was all like "...damn, I want one!"

But it's so amazingly abso-bloody-lutely splendiforously awesome to know that, if I ever wanted to be a deacon or priest or even maybe a bishop, I could, and it wouldn't matter how gay I happened to be feeling that day, or what gender I was born--just what I'm really like on the inside. That...makes me happy beyond all reason. XD XD XD

What hikaness said. That's anathema to all Catholics, which means hot damn it's cool.

Hee! Of the Protestants, the Episcopalians are the most Catholic in ritual and the least in theology and politics. Which means we get to enjoy all of the pageantry with none of the guilt. XD

So you get all the shiny without all the bullshit?

Yesyesexactly! XD At least, the ones we have around here. I must totally pass on that description...

And I will reiterate what Rosie said above that our new cute middle-aged lesbian couple are the CUTEST THING EVAR. Painfully adorable, really.

Also, this week's hanging about at St Chris's (with the straights, who are almost as cool) brought the newest superhero on the block: MagnifiCat, the mascot of choirs everywhere..... *giggles, flees from the cute*

Okay, I just checked the bus itinerary, and the layover's at night...so we might be able to hang out for a bit, but then I'd have to get a hotel or something. (Did I mention I might be there with the cute Beatles girl? :D)

chem_nerd sent me over here-- just wanted to say I *love* your user pics! Can I steal the "homophobia is gay" one? (when I get my other computer up and running, I can send one that says "the terror alert is at Rainbow: there are gay people everywhere!")

Haha, hi, thanks so much. :) Sure, you can steal anything I made, and probably stuff other people made if they don't mind. My icon journal is at surrealityicons--I haven't updated in forever but there's some decent icons I made about a year ago there.

And, hehe, yes, I've seen that 'terror alert' icon. Love it. <3

Thank you for the link-- I love your icons (and had to comment on the harem!). BTW, in the comments for that entry, your icon shows you(?) hiding behind a book. As a bookworm, I'm curious-- what book is it?

BTW, I've "friended" you-- feel free to come visit my journal any time.

Hehe, you're welcome. I do what I can. =) I'm quite proud of that harem--I need to add a few girls to it. And actually, that icon's not me, that's Brigitta from The Sound Of Music, but it's exactly how I feel some days. Thus, I have no idea what book it is. (That's me in my icon--the one on the right grinning like a chipmunk, not the gay bishop--in case you're curious.)
