Invoking Michell's memory is a bit manipulative of Jack, but I suppose that's the point.

Good story.

That's why Jack was hesitant to do it, and part of him wanted to avoid going down that path. But he felt he needed to do everything he could to talk Tony out of killing himself, including playing the "Michelle card", then let him make the decision on his own.
