I identify with five communities. I'm at a really frightening point in life right now. My ties to all five are fraying rapidly. Do I try to save them, or do I just continue to focus on my contingency plans?

I just have these really important groups of friends at Western, in Redmond, in Spain, and my family. And I know I'm at the crossroads where we all start to go our separate ways. I want to stop it, but I don't know if I can or should. I've said before, and I'll say it again, I've already met the best friends I could ever ask for, and I don't want to see them walk off into the sunset.

it doesn't seem like you should have to choose between groups. can you maintain the important relationships simultaneously? also, 'I want to stop it' is a little out of your hands. you definitely can't completely stop it yourself, but you can make small efforts to maintain relationships with individuals in a day-to-day sense.
basically any time I start to have preemptive regrets about stuff like this I keep that old frost poem about two roads diverging in a wood in mind. All of life is a series of triage decisions, and it's always gonna be stressful but you have to make your choices and keep going without wasting time worrying about things rather than doing things
