I was in a similar situation when I got my 2nd one, which I'd been planning for years. It's not that the inking was bad (I had the good fortune of having a great artist with lots of experience) but that I wasn't used to the way my forearm looked after it was done. The point being: although it was something I'd wanted permanently on me, I had to actually "fall in love" with it being in my skin.
If you plan it out well and if it means a lot to you, the results are always worth it.
I've thought about it off and on for a few years, but always came to the conclusion that I was too fickle. But now I'm pretty in love with the idea. I printed out the design i'm thinking of and cut it out. Every once in a while, I take it out of my wallet and position it here and there to see if I like it. I dooo.
Yup. I like the name of that road, and it's fitting. Lyrics are here: http://agelade.livejournal.com/43676.html Melody has been worked out, rough guitar lyrics have been written and await an actual guitar player to make them really great. I'm channeling Johnny Cash.

Glad you're pumped about book 2! I can't wait!
Well, I mean, obviously I can, since I haven't flown out there, tied you to a chair and forced you to write... but I'm very eager, how's that? :D
