International Talk Like A Pirate Day

For those who don't know (or don't observe) last Friday was International Talk Like a Pirate Day.  Up until this year I had thought celebration of this important holiday was pretty well restricted to us internet geek types.  No longer having to show up at an office on a daily basis I felt, to some extent, as if I'd missed out.  This weekend ( Read more... )

I came near as peas organizing a school-wide event for TLP, but we are so snowed under right now that I just didn't have time. I planned to save my "Sloop John B" book and CD for that day. ARRRRRR! Maybe next year I'll be more organized. :/

*cackles* That's very cool, dear. :-) Oooh! Mint chocolates are quite my kind of booty! Well, not my only kind, but a good kind while heading towards end of term@college. (again)

ITLP is creeping out into the mainstream culture

Indeed, it is heartily embraced in the American high school! I celebrated it with a special improvisation in Theatre Arts, and the following Monday, one of my students brought in an article about how to make a pirate cake.
