What a culture that is to mark each day that way! I've heard this done and it effects me viscerally..not in a bad way either.
The Middle East must be an amazing place to go, it is so ancient.

Actually, to be a Muslim, one is required to pray five times a day. However, I only remember calls to prayer at dawn and noon and at sunset.

In one of our more amazing moments in Egypt we walked out onto the pavilion of the Temple at Luxor just as the sunset call to prayer was signaled. The air filled with a cacophony of calls from the various mosques around. Dad and I both just stopped and listened in awe.

It is just a little intimidating to be in a country where the arrival of the ancient Greeks and Romans is viewed as recent history. Egypt has its drawbacks, but the culture and attractions are like nothing I have ever seen or am likely to see again.

I...I...I hardly have words. How beautiful! That's rather lame, but I seriously can't think of proper compliments right now.

*in awe*

Thank you, but there's no need to search out words. It's reward enough that people seem to be enjoying the pictures.
