Oh, I had no idea that there even were short stories! I just have the sets of the old white paperback books and am so out of the loop these days. Maybe I would have liked it better if I had read the short story and could associate the dress with one of Lissie's adventures!

But lilac still seems like such an odd color for an American Revolution-era dress. Never saw one that color in any of the museums I visited...
