“I don’t think anyone meant for you to do this though,” she said, her heart racing for more than one reason.
“There’s no other way.” Arthur’s voice echo around them in the chamber. An explosion erupted and the airship rumbled under their feet. “Take her down,” he told Merlin through the team’s comm.
The ship began descending. Arthur’s mask opened and Gwen saw his face. His eyes were somehow cheerful.
Four minutes to detonate
Her stomach dropped and her eyes fell to the bomb at their feet. Arthur caught her chin. “Smile for me,” he said.
“I wish you wouldn’t do this,” she said, but did her best to smile.
“There’s something I’ve wanted to say.”
Gwen bit her lip. “You don’t have to,” she told him and shook her head.
“But I want to. And I should.”
