Have any of you read the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray? I recently finished A Great and Terrible Beauty and am trying to decide if I should continue.

I read the trilogy and loved it, BUT the first book is the best, IMHO. It also stands on its own, if you're disinterested in the rest of the series.

That was probably one of the least useful recommendations I've ever given. Heh.

Well, I liked the first book well enough - I'm interested in the rest of the series, or I wouldn't have asked. I think Twilight made me immediately wary of all supernatural teen series. I started it enjoying myself despite the bad writing, but ended up hating it all.

It's not a fair comparison because I think A Great and Terrible Beauty much better written (and more interesting) than that series.

Um, that is to say, I'll probably keep reading. If you loved the series, and I liked the first one, I think it'll be worth it to keep going.

On another note, have you read any of the series that "True Blood" was based on? I have Dead Until Dark in my holds queue at the library.

Hee. Gotcha.

I have not read the series at all, though I know I bought the first book a couple of years ago.
