This saddens me. I love the way they ran their website, and it sucks that I will not get their superior translations anymore. I may check in with them for non Jump series, if there are any I follow that are still running, but it'll be a shame not to get Bleach from them anymore

I'll have to check into them. I think Bleach Exile also does in house scanlations, and I can go back to reading it there. But I know bleachness is going to have a post every week when the new chapter's out linked somewhere, so I'm not too worried.

And yeah. I mean, if Shueisha had done the cease-and--desist then I wouldn't be so sad about this. But it's VIZ. Between all the merchandise they push and all the different ways to get it in English (single volume, 3-in-1 omnibus, Shonen Jump) it's almost like they're just going "Want more money, not new fans!" It's really quite sad.

What's really bad is I used to love going to their booth at Comic Con. They used to do all sorts of great stuff and had a cool store with good deals that made you want to search them out.Don't know about last year, but the year before I was so disappointed. They'd taken out the store (and I finally had the money for some SDCC exclusive stuff), and the staff was incredibly rude and not at all knowledgeable about the American releases, let alone the Japanese stuff. When I got $60 at Amazon I turned around and bought xxxHOLiC manga because the creators encourage fan stuff and don't mind scnalations (as much) to attract English readers. I think if VIZ had it's way fans wouldn't write fic or do art, even though Kubo himself has said he loves to see other people draw his stuff.

Yay! I'm actually surprised we have more than just my entries, and they're both really good. I'm so excited!
