Cute! (you and yr hair, of course)prettyvacuntDecember 19 2005, 07:36:47 UTC
Oh God, I used to have that New York elitism as well. I'd talk to the Delawareans with my faded accent (it still pops up every now and then, particularly when I'm pissed off, or speaking with a fellow New Yorker) and think I was ALLL THAAAT. I still am proud to be a native though, but what can you do!
I am so happy I am not the only one who made a reading list for the holidays. I just finished two books and have just started on another about an hour ago. I also bought a somewhat rare book (by rare, I mean you'll hardly ever see it in the shelves of Borders or B&N) at a used book store for $3.00. And it's in decent shape! I most certainly did Snoopy dances after that.

Just finished:
The Diary of Anne Frank -Anne Frank 95 Poems -E.E. Cummings
Starting:
At the Gates of the Animal Kingdom -Amy Hempel
Bought:
Are you Loathsome Tonight? -Poppy Z. Bright
***
I feel so ashamed that I've just read Anne Frank now. I remember reading a few pages when I was younger and never finishing it. So many books that everyone else has read that I haven't! For example, George Orwell's 1984 is also on my reading list.

Hey, better now than never! I guess it's one of those "classics" ie: books most people read in high school English classes, but whatever. I was never a fan of that book anyway. I found 1984, however, to be very powerful.
mmm e.e. cummings I haven't read any Poppy Z. Bright, but want to.
You are the dykiest in that suit. Yet you look very hott and adorable. *kiss*
If I don't get some new books to read soon, I'm going to start cutting people open and reading their entrails. (That's disgusting. I'll just have to pay my library fines and go from there.)
Dahling, I only read the FINEST of entrails, and those happen to be people's entrails. Luckily, I paid my TEN DOLLARS in fines, so now I can borrow (or, as I like to say, "rent") books willy-nilly, which I shall do tomorrow.
omg. you in that suit = too fucking cute. where did you get it? i want one. badly. and i want your hair, too, though it would probably look better on you.
also, you should move to california. and i say that as a native ny'er.
I got the suit at a Unitarian church tag sale. It's pretty much my favorite thing ever. I can't see you with red hair-you're too much of a Nordic beauty to have red hair, I think.
I suspect some bias in this advice. Where in NY are you from?
I like the red very much. NOW lol to adress the issue that I am all excited to see red hair and then you are wearing a scarf OVER your pretty head in half the photos? LOL

I'm all about the reading lists. What books did you just finish? What's the one you just bought?

Ew library fines. The bane of my existence. And wouldn't you read, like, chicken entrails or something?
