Japan bans child pornography, as long as it's not in manga or anime form.

Sexually explicit comics account for a sizeable chunk of Japan's 500bn yen manga market. Many feature schoolgirls or childlike adults being raped or engaging in sadomasochism.

I think that article on masturbation down plays too much the history of religious objection to masturbation. Or at least, in Jewish circles it was a big deal. Josef Caro in the Shulchan Aruch, 60 years prior to Marten's tract, declared that male masturbation was equivalent to murder. Then again, that is relatively close in time, and I haven't done research into how much basis Caro's claim has in the tradition. (I mean, the goal for him was always to be reporting the tradition, but that's always an act of interpretation, and sometimes there are creative leaps.)

Also:

So much for that. I fucking loved graham crackers as a kid.
