emerging, talented female sci-fi writers

To address the lack of females on the list posted earlier today, I did a bit of research. I ended up looking at the finalists for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer from 2000 to 2007, one of the three major annual awards in science fiction, and making note of the women. Links are to person websites, if they have one.

I'd also add Cherie Priest and... probably some other people I'm blanking on right now. It's hard to narrow down my book list by decade.

HowEVer, if you're talking strictly science fiction (which, of course, the Campbell isn't, but the list you posted before is), most of these wouldn't qualify -- Monette, Novik, and Walton, at least, write fantasy. (I know Bear writes SF; I haven't read any of the others.)
