I recently finished Stranger In A Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein (if you want a summary, a good introduction, click the linek-this is for my reactions) which was by turns infuriating and inspiring. In any case, it made me think. A lot. I wish I could get into Heinlein. Truth to tell, I've always found him a frustrating read. Still, good quotes. I liked "Secrecy begets tyranny", from The Cat Who Walked Through Walls.

See, now I feel hypocritical; defending asshole writers in one of your previous entries and simply reversing my opinion here. Regardless of my own lack of consistency, I've never been able to separate Heinlein the man from Heinlein the author. Every time I try to read what he's writing, I feel like he's poking in, interfering with my experience of his work. I guess the author comes between me and the story.
