I take it there's more to "strange phenomena" than just existing in this place?

I've been particularly looking at the way space seems to be folded at the edge of town.

How long have you been here?

A little over nine months now.

This place really does defy every law of physics. [Well, that's a hyperbole, although Ema can't help but wonder how much of one it is.]

I don't have any hard theories that aren't laughably non-scientific. But I'm definitely interesting in trying to come up with one.

I was hoping it might be more fruitful to try to find whatever they're using to conceal what they're using to wrap space at the edge of town.

Mmm. You're probably right there.

I know people have broken into City Hall and found evidence of a machine that's part of the droning process. It's possible that there's another apparatus that controls time and space here--or it could be the same machine.

I just wish we could get close to it without being shot on sight.

Everything interesting seems to be deadlocked sealed. Until we can deal with the "shot on sight" problem, going at it sideways seems to be the best option.

Uh, which ones are we talking about? Because there's a lot of weird stuff here.

All of them, really. Today I was looking into the way space seems to fold around at the edge of town.

Yes. Probably one of the more... distinctive phenomena.

What is it you were thinking with power draws, exactly? If you explain I may be able to give you some other ideas.

I was hoping that at the very least monitoring power flow might give a clue to how they're masking everything that goes on.

In other words, looking for the hotspots? But, they may not need energy in the same way as most people would perceive it. Or even in a way that some of those here who sense a different energy perceive it.

The possibility has occurred to me. I've been monitoring for as many varieties as I can, but of course it's impossible to say if there's nothing there or I'm just not picking it up.

[ Diana's been quietly watching Sarah Jane work, but she decides to clear her throat and make her presence known. ]

Are you trying to find something?

Hoping I might, at any rate. I'm trying to see if there is any unusual energy use around here.

In that case, may I see the device you're using? I could modify it to give it a greater range and a stronger frequency.

Of course. It's not Earth based technology, but there's always room for improvement.
