[Phone, filtered from drones etc]

Okay, the dimensional folding has extended a bit, but it's still in place. Some of the names on those signs really don't fit what they've been going for in this town so far. They're definitely not as insistently American as everything else. Of course, the question is... what does that mean?

lots of questions, still no idea, phone

It could mean any number of things. Perhaps even that our consciousnesses are affecting Mayfield, although I would not count that as very likely.

We know the town can put information into people's minds, it doesn't seem entirely unlikely it might be able to get information out.

I agree with this, but I'm afraid it is not what I meant. The key words is our consciousnesses and it affecting Mayfield, meaning something they have no control over. Unless the opening to that road is something they had no intention of, there is no reason that the town names should be anything but American.

Are you suggesting the town itself has some sort of... psychic field?

Well, we know of two of those places, at least. Not that they're anything good.

Had anyone heard of Maipole or Westport before people were transported there?

Not that I know of, no.

So this is a change in the pattern, then.

I thought those were really strange. Westport and Maipole we know... but Xinzun? Prova? I don't know what to think of that. There's also the supposed exit...

Those were before my time, but I've heard some about them. Perhaps the town has something similar planned wtih Xinzun and Prova?

The exit is certainly intriguing, but I doubt it's what it seems.

I've been to both - Maipole, and Westport twice now. I-If the other towns are anything like them, I really don't want to go to them then.

Did you happen to notice how the scenery sort of... flickered? Like there may be more out there... or something being covered up. It's hard to tell.

Hmm, maybe extending beyond the old borders means they can't quite keep up the way things loop like they usually do.

None of the names out here look right to me. I don't see why the new ones are any different.

A lot of the new ones don't sound like they're in the same country that Mayfield claims to be in.

Ah.

As I've never even heard of that country-

Are you from a different time or a different place?

[The male voice is low and cool, but there's a note of confusion or even skepticism in it.]

"Dimensional folding"?

That seems to be what happens when we reach the edge of the town. Or that point on the highway, now.
