Thanks! Well, the results may vary depending on your base, but here's is what I got from my experience with this set:

~ The colorful textures (1 and 2, for example) can do interesting things when set to soft light. They might work with other blend modes too, like multiply and screen. Sometimes they cause disasters, but if you play with their opacities, the result can be a lovely color change.

~ The grainy/grungy ones (like 53, 65 and 70) and the dark ones with colorful/light details (46, 47, 48...) usually look better when set to screen.

~ The best part is to experiment! Play with the blend modes (all of them) and the opacity, flip the textures around, smudge them when necessary, change their colors so they'll suit your icons better... there are hundreds of possibilities. :D Also, don't forget about layer masks, they can be really useful.

This awesome tutorial might teach you other tricks. I can also upload a .psd file of an icon in which I used these textures if you think it'd be helpful. ^^
