[Locked 20% to Katara]

I'm coming over for a visit.

[It's been some time since Katara was hurt in her encounter with Azula. Hakoda has been visiting her every day, whether he's welcome or not. But perhaps today will be different. Or perhaps not. He'll be knocking on her door soon enough ( Read more... )

[Katara is doing better. A little, anyway. She's been slowly starting to practice her bending again, fitfully. Stretching her fingers still hurts. A lot. But it's a thousand times better than what it had been a week before.

The knock on her door makes her pause in her work, as menial as it is; swirling the water in a cup. Fun.

She rises, pausing briefly, before gingerly tugging the door open and standing aside. She knew who it was. And she wasn't entirely unhappy to see him. Really. There might not be a smile on her face, but there's no scowl, either.]

Hi dad.

[That's definitely an improvement over when he first arrived on the boat. But he'd gladly take the scowling back if it meant she wasn't in as poor condition as she is now. Once he's allowed in, he steps on inside. There's no sense leaving his back exposed to the hallway, after all. Not in this place.]

Hi Katara. [He shuts the door behind him and quickly sizes her up. The burns are still evident, but... she wasn't in bed. Definitely an improvement over last week.] How are you feeling? [Not good, he suspects.]

[Automatically her shoulders gave a little shrug, drawing a slim wince out of her from the action.]

Better. I've been using my hands more; at least I can move them again.

[She sighs a little, clearing her throat as she catches it, before returning to the end of the bed where her little table was set up, a single glass of water sitting on it.]

[He watches sympathetically at how each little thing causes her pain. He's had his share of burns, but nothing as bad as what Katara has recently suffered. Every day since it's happened, it's like reliving those moments when...]

You've been bending? [He glances down at the glass. She's evidently not drinking from it.]
