It is in fact a snake/serpent/Leviathan slithering through the brush, imprisoning Cas in his own mind

At least, that's how I saw it. But art is all about interpretation, baby.

This is great! It's so bittersweet and Castiel's wings look marvelous. That snake crawling around in the foreground is a nice touch. Somewhat creepy, yet fitting.

Just read it! The cool thing is that I was thinking along those lines when I saw the pic so that made my day! It'd be awesome if they did something like that on the show! You know, Dean has to travel into Castiel's mind and help him fight his demons in order to save him from the Leviathans. And you brought that idea to life in a stunningly beautiful way!!!
