Since the Crow brought Eric Draven back to life, technically, he wasn't a zombie.

my reasoning was that reanimated human corpses, whether they are under the influence of *internal* or *external* forces, are generally referred to as zombies... oh, but you are saying that Eric Draven was ressurected by The Crow, and was thus alive & not undead? ...i was recalling his line "I say I'm dead, and I move," ...and it seems to me that the point of these characters coming back from the dead, is that they have had a transformative experience, and they have returned to take care of unfinished business, or to bring justice to an unfair situation!

i generally look at scenarios like this as but one part of the cycle in an ancient theme, which joseph campbell refers to as the monomyth.

so, in that respect, the veves are basically like cosmic teleportaion maps.

neat. but you probably knew I'd like that. is there a loa like nuit, specifically dealing with celestial activities?

well, each of the loa is like an ancestor who has returned to the stars; and there is a reference to how each of us will find our fate in the heavens in the form of the Star of Destiny, or Z'étoile:

q.v. The Vodou Bodies, Death Rituals Across Cultures and Ages, & Watering Dry Bones (which cointains the text of the Z'étoile card from the Major Arcana of the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot

otherwise, the Orisha Yemoya is also known as Mary, The Star of the Sea ...i found a story about her which is ironically pertinent to my life, anyway lmk what you think?

This all sounds somewhat familiar to me though not quite the same Path I've traveled down.

I understand the concept of Channeling and Mediumship, allowing a Channel to open and the Entity to pass through, communicate.

How is this in relation to what you call Trance Possession? Sounds forceful and invasive. I assume there are safe zones and rituals for protection.

*curious*

i believe that, whether induced by breathing, chanting, dancing, sex, drugs, or rock&roll... trance states may invite possession.

in this context, mediumship & channeling would be considered partial possession.

the way i would describe full possession is that it requires exchange of consciousness with the Loa... that the material body takes on the characteristics and behaviours of the Loa, while the spirit of the participant explores the dark spaces between the stars... so, it's actually quid pro quo!

but yes, like in most magickal systems, there are boundaries and banishings, etc... mostly though, there is a great amount of trust in the relationships that people have with their spiritual leaders and others in the community... that's included within the ideal of connaisance that i mentioned in the previous post, but it's a complex term that is difficult to simplify without further study ( ... )

Something in the circuit of what you've said here recalls to mind what one of my Mentors has said to me many times.

"Anything cures Anything."

It seems if we consciously use the best of what's around us; words, flowers, sunlight, stones, water etc. we can create the changes we long to see.

Tetrodotoxin could mean the end of the food chain, since it is mainly produced by algae that fish eat and that same algae is becoming larger every year. My parrot fish can produce it if I feed it algae.

Don't for get Osiris. knighthorse May 22 2006, 16:35:20 UTC
He was murdered by his brother Seth, who cut his body to pieces and scattered it throughout Egypt. Isis gathered all the body parts and put Osiris back together (all parts were found, except for the penis). His body was preserved and wrapped in linen bandages, creating the first mummy and the "model" for burials of important people in Egypt. Isis magically brought Osiris back to life and the god-king rose from the dead. A "substitute penis" was attached. Osiris and Isis mated. Isis gave birth to Horus who would grow up to avenge his father's death.

Osiris was not allowed to remain in the land of the living. He was sent to the underworld to be ruler and judge.

An interesting fact is that the kings of Egypt, who upon dying, were seen as the embodyment of Osiris (and the new king became the emodyment of Horus). They were "given" a star within the Osiris (Orion) constellation.
