Aha! So, they call themselves Cluan or the Tea Merchants, eh? ...I have enjoyed jamming at many a session with Chuck Wright on bodhran and Jeff Moore on guitar.
The Flying Fish Sailors are fun indeed... yeah, celtic pirates, rock!
I have always appreciated Silver Thistle Pipes & Drums and Sambaxé... I think that they started the SambaThistle collaboration after MacUmba were so acclaimed for their unique blend of Scottish Bagpipes and Brzilian rhythms... it is a truly exhilarating sound!!!
Their 1997 Chronicle listing said: "Scottish pipetunes meet Brazilian rhythms in a unique intercultural encounter. Like a shot of cazaça with a Glen Fiddich chaser, you won't know what hit you, but you'll be feeling good."
(and speaking of Brazil... ironically enough, i watched Black Orpheus last night with harliquinmayhem & pinkflesh17)

Although I am glad to hear that you had the good fortune to travel abroad and visit Ireland, my smpathies go out to the suffering that was so prevalent there at that time.
I have a co-worker who is originally from Armagh, Ireland... she just graduated from the from The Queen's University of Belfast, and says that everything is just great there, now!
