it still seems creepy to me that, not only have i been
talking with people about suicide, lately (also in the context of
my own adolescence, as well as concerning what arthur miller had to say about
marilyn monroe)... but furthermore, i was just telling
jason austin the other day that he reminds me of
hunter s. thompson.
yeah, and i suppose it would be too predictable for the good doctor's recent "suicide" to have really been an assassination performed by some covert intelligence agency or another, wouldn't it? but isn't that exactly why they think they could get away with it? ah well, we may never know the real truth, but i'm sure that he wouln't want anybody's sympathy in any case.... so, instead of whining about his death, why don't all o' y'all just get out there and do some investigative journalism, damnit!
but before you think this will be easy, let me share some intel from someone who has managed to stay out of the limelight: a friend of mine on the inside of the "liberal propaganda machine" once told me that, in order to make a name for yourself in journalism, you have to betray someone who is important enough to make a news story about, but not powerful enough to crush your career when you break their confidence...
ps
flipsideghost has written
a damn decent eulogy, to begin with...
pss
queenofhalves mentioned that
poppy z. brite had some quite illuminating things to say about HST's condition when they met recently

striggy points out that
warren ellis has finally written a piece on the death of HST.
