spring in Alberta

Last week we enjoyed temperatures in the low 20's C or low 70's F. This morning we woke up to snow on the ground and temperatures hovering around 1 C or 34 F. This is spring in Alberta. Most of the snow has already melted for now but there are snow/rain showers in the forecast on Tuesday ( Read more... )

Your Spring is very yo-yo like. It can't seem to make up it's mind whether to be warm or cold. Do the flowering trees have issues with the weather?
Glad you got the little afghan done. I don't remember my MIL ever blocking a crocheted one. i do remember my mother & grandmother doing that for knitted sweaters.
Hope the new OTC med helps your allergies.

I'm not sure about cultivated fruit trees but our wild roses and raspberry cane cope with our crazy weather. It isn't unusual for us to have a snow storm in late May. Generally people don't plant annual flowers until close to the end of May to avoid frost damage.
I didn't end up blocking the baby afghan. The label said to do that but I dried it on the delicate cycle with low heat and it turned out fine. The yarn I used is called Baby Bamboo, mainly bamboo but a small amount of wool and something else but I can't remember what now. I had never worked with it previously so I wasn't sure what to expect when it was wet.
My eyes are a bit better today with a new allergy med.

It has poured rain here most of the weekend. It helps knock the pollen down, but it is becoming tiresome.

Enjoy your projects. I can't wait to see the dresser!

We had a little rain today but more snow is forecast for tomorrow morning. The dresser drawers look pretty good after just one coat of paint, but the body of the dresser will probably take at least three coats as it lighter than the drawers. I'll work on it more tomorrow and I still need to find new drawer pulls.

Our weather's has been awful, too. We had snow flurries Saturday morning that turned to rain. According our local weather guy, we now have had 7 months in a row with below normal temperatures.

Allergies are annoying alright though mine are nowhere near as bad as yours.

I'm feeling a bit better today but will probably ask my doctor for a prescription for eye drops so that my eyes aren't as itchy and puffy.
I hope summer weather gets here (and in Winnipeg) soon.
