How horrible! What a nasty let-down after the good news of the windfall.

I guess the bright side to the whole mess of a day is that your compensation money will cover the costly repair.

Hope all your coming up days turn out a lot better.

*hugs*

Ugh! What a nightmare.

But isn't it funny how the money just materializes when you need it the most? We had something similar happen when the State of Georgia finally corrected its errors with our 2005 & 2006 tax returns . . . right when the transmission went out on the Big Guy's truck.

Kinda makes me believe in the theory that a Higher Power will never give you more than you can handle.

I do believe that God never gives you more than you can handle. You might not want to have to handle it and it might not be fun but He knows our limits and gives us strength to deal with what ever comes.

Get a second opinion. At this amount of money, I think it is worth exploring. Is there a consumer protection agency you can reference? When you bought the property, what did the property survey come up with? You just haven't been there that long...

I say this because I think you and Hubby deserve a windfall. All of it.

When we had the property inspection done there was snow on the ground. The inspector checked what he could and like us assumed that because the house isn't that old that all was well. Until the alarm went off on the weekend there were no indications of a problem.
There is a problem, the question is how to resolve the problem. Right now I hardly know which end is up and the more research I do the more confused I become.

I'm really sorry. I will refrain from free advice.

There is nothing to apologize for. You gave good advice, a second opinion is a good idea but for now we are in waiting mode. We need information from the county about what was done originally, what we can and cannot do now. There will be a temporary fix in place today. We have time to do more research because it will probably get too cold to do much until spring. I appreciate your support.
