slow start

I am dragging my butt at bit. I had to fast for blood work this morning so I was up 2 1/2 hours before I had my cup of tea. I am feeling a bit better now that I've had my cuppa. Unfortunately it took the technician two attempts to get blood. I told her that the last time I had blood work they used a butterfly but she proceeded without it, and ( Read more... )

*hugs*

I absolutely detest having my blood taken as they always complain that my veins are too small and difficult to find. I feel as though they are butchering my arms during the procedure as it usually takes them forever to get it right. grrrr

I am very tempted to bring a hot pack the next time. When I was undergoing chemo they always gave everyone a hot pack to help bring out the veins. Maybe that might help you, along with drinking lots of water.

Good tip. They usually use a belt thing (very tight too) but complain that it does not help.

It has always been like this all my life. :(

They used that belt thing (a large elastic) today. I don't remember if they used it during chemo.

Are you seeing the plastic surgeon regarding reconstruction?

Yes I am. When I had the lumpectomy they took 290 grams or 10.2 oz. The right breast is considerably smaller than the left and the nipple faces my arm. I'm going to ask about a tummy tuck while I'm at it. It won't be covered but I've had this "bread dough" tummy for nearly 26 years, it's now or never. A whole "front end alignment" so to speak!

Whoa...good for you! Luckily for me, my right breast was always bigger than my left, so what they took didn't make a huge amount of difference, although it's not attractive in any way, shape or form. Believe me. My surgeon that I would be eligible for reconstruction to be paid by the insurance, but I'll probably never take him up on that offer.

Oh, and I'll have my bread dough until I die. (lol)

I meant my surgeon "said" that I would be eligible. I should really READ my comments before hitting the "post" button. (smile)

I remember. I think I spent five years tired every day. It's so nice when they sleep through the night every night.

other then the heat pack idea, maybe ask if they could use a vein in you left leg? some good ones there too and they will be in slightly better shape then your arm... as they were slightly further away from the chemo. Either way, glad things went good this morning and i hope the surgeon has good news for your reconstruction.
