I will add the pictures later tonight at home... BUT:
mcniadh, I will be returning the Thomson Elite Stem (waaaaaaay, WAY too long for moi, and the negative rise didn't work for me either...) and the seatpost (I got a black one to match the new stem). I will also be giving you back the cantilever brakes, because
kristoffej had some V-brakes, the idea of which the physicist in me seems to like.
So,
kristoffej and I rode our bikes into downtown 'Ville to
Town and Country Bike and Board, wherein I done did purchase:
1. Bottom bracket wrench.
2. 1 Sram 9-speed chain.
3. All cables, housings, ferules, stops, etc.
4. 4 Stem spacers.
5. 2 Tubes. (25c)
6. A cheap-ass Cane Creek headset (to be replaced later...)
I am just gonna put a plug in here for the dudes at this bike shop. They pretty much rule. They are real bike guys-- no misplaced snobbery, very knowledgeable, and they get really effin' excited about bike projects such as mine.
So, things that were accomplished last night:
1. Headset installed.
2. Fork nominally installed.
3. Bottom bracket installed.
4. Cranks installed.
5. After much wrangling with the temporary plats attached to the SPDs --> Pedals installed.
6. Rear brakes attached.
7. Wheels/stem/bars placed to see general idea of what the bike might look like, and check for stem fit.
Things ordered last night:
1.
90mm , +/-6° rise, Easton Stem (possibly replaced later...)
2.
Kalloy Guizzo 27.2 x 350mm. 7075 Aluminum seatpost Parts I already have on hand, or are already installed:
