How Merlin Learned to Stop Worrying and Love His Destiny by
mint_amaretto (R, 9k)
Summary: Arthur/Merlin, crack. In which Merlin moves to the Cursed Kingdom of Camelot, Arthur puts a little too much faith into the rules of courtly love and Lancelot has no problem being faithful to his lady
Notes: This fic nails the holy trinity of CRACK/UST/FLUFF. It'll give your abs a workout from laughing so friggin much. Example:
"And Lancelot can't possibly be any good in the sack, he'd, like, moan in verse."
HAHAHA GO NOW
Lovestruck by
social_retard86 (PG-13, ~15k)
Summary: Arthur/Merlin, First Time, modern!AU. Arthur, head of a publishing house, meets a compelling man on the tube.
Notes: SHINY FIC ALERT. This is an all-around kickass AU with all the right ingredients of humor, UST, fluff, and a well-rounded cast. But the area the author really shines is in the dialogue. The banter! Boys!! Will (as Merlin's idiot best friend) is especially inspired, while the Arthur/Merlin snark makes for a perfect, modern translation of their chemistry on the show.
at least it would seem that we don't by
derryere (NC-17, 16k)
Summary: Arthur/Merlin, brothers!AU. Arthur and Merlin are fraternal twins who grow up apart.
Notes: Maybe it's the old SPN fandom spurring me on, but when I found out
derryere wrote brothercest with A/M, I flipped the fuck out. This lives up to what I'd hoped for and more. It's ANGSTY and fiercely hot, but the intensity is broken up by these lovely, idyllic scenes to keep the reader going. The plot and writing makes this a damned good story, but what really impressed me was the structure. Simple things like paying attention to how the chapters are broken up can really go the extra mile in the quality of a story.
The thing I'll remember most about this fic, though, is the one run-on paragraph in Part 1. It's ingenious. It literally took my breath away. When you see it you'll know what I mean.
He that never had sorrow of love, never had joy of it either by
merle_p (PG-13, 3k)
Summary: Arthur/Merlin, future!fic. Sometimes, Merlin misses being Arthur’s manservant.
Notes: This fic is the perfect little package: constant sexual tension and conflict wrapped up with a fluffy ending. And with jealousy as the primary plot device? I'm sold. WHAT? I'M EASY LIKE THAT.
