Next time you see him, tell him to stop by for a drink; it would be good to talk to him again, no matter what face he’s wearing.
and
Let me tell you about the time I found him in Greece… he’d not met me yet and I was more than a little irritated at the time to see a certain blue box again…
that tells me here's a man who's really got a handle on the Doctor.
Also? This, just makes me want to be Ace:
Ace was interrupted by the sudden vice-like grip of fingers around her wrist.

As for wanting to be Ace, I think I know exactly what you mean. *g*

It certainly would. Except can you imagine how dreadful they would would be together if Methos met Ten on one of Ten's 'bad' days...?
I think we've all wanted to be Ace at some point :D

But I love that Methos would show up in an alien's bar. But then, I love ANYTHING Methos with a burning passion, so...
I really liked the story.

Ace is my favourite companion of The Doctor, even now, but then the Seventh Doctor is probably still *my* Doctor too so that ain't surprising. I just picked her up, dusted her off, pinched some of her background from the Doctor Who New Adventures novels and plunked her, older and wiser, in a universe of my making.
The Torchwood 4 series isn't a long one, but it does have a *lot* of original characters in it - you'll learn more about Shiv for a start - as well as guest appearances from the Torchwood 3 team. If you want to read them in 'chronological' order then I suggest using the AO3 link though you do get a nice pic of Shiv's pub (yes it is based on a real one) if you stay on LJ.
And don't forget, there's the beer festival to tempt Methos back (which is also real - and takes place in the crypt of the Roman Catholic cathedral so he'd be drinking beer on Holy Ground).

OMG, I love the idea of Methos + beer + holy ground!
BTW, did you know that the real Shakespeare & Co. is sited over holy ground? Gives new emphasis to Methos hanging out down in the basement, eh? Lalala

A cause that would be very close to Methos' heart don't you think?
There are quite a few CAMRA pubs in Liverpool and one of them even has a brewery in the old - possibly used by smugglers - tunnels under the pub; The Baltic Fleet.

Loved all of it, but particularly this line: not everything interesting had to be alien and she was glad to have had a reminder of that.
And I also liked that her first thought is to contact Jack, but then when she discovers the Doctor knows she defers to his wisdom.
(And I wouldn't be surprised to find the Oxford a CAMRA pub, it always struck me as the kind of place that only has ale on tap and a dusty bottle of white under the counter in case a woman ever wanders in *grin*)

So an alien publican might not be that far a reach then? *g*
Always pleased to raise a smile! This verse and the Abney Park verse (new parts in that too over the last couple of weeks) are vying for position of feel-good fic verse.
