There's a fic meme floating around on my flist started by donutsweeper and mad_jaks which I wasn't going to succumb to, but having read what other people are making of it, it looks like too much fun!

Give me a title and I shall write a snippet for it in several different fandoms of my choosing. Using song titles and snippets of lyrics is perfectly acceptable as ( Read more... )

One Small Problem

Start writing it anyway, maybe you'll grow one as you go. Alternatively you could persuade someone else to write it for you ^_^.

It's why I think I could really get into writing little snippets and drabbles, it lets me try out new fandoms and characters I know I haven't got enough of a handle on to do more than a sentence or so. Runs off to finish writing mine (I'm slow today).

I might. I do have the resources - the entire series on DVD *and* the 2 Firefly companion books - but it isn't ingrained into my psyche enough to *know* the characters as if they were my friends.

Go read lots of FANFIC it's a great way to immerse yourself in the world, plus it's fun.

I love Richie and I should use him more. I'm sure he would have fun at Torchwood, I can see him quite cheerfully chasing after Tosh for a start!

i... need to see more of him. Because I find him annoying. But that could also be because I haven't seen early episodes of HL... coming up soon though on the netflix queue

Richie was always a kind of Love or Hate character. I loved him though it didn't hurt that I have a thing for redheads and freckles. Chivalry is quite a good Richie ep, you have him being totally annoying and dense, and yet also caring. Another one is Duende.

I think I will warm up to him, when I actually see him in more episodes. Or, you know, I won't but I'll write him in a way that will let me like him. I figure... I can do it for Owen and Gwen, Richie should be easy.

Yup, that's Chivalry. I've actually done a sort of coda to the ep in my own universe called Beyond Chivalry, it has Siannon in it.

Duende is the Flamenco and Sword circle episode.

Loved Richie! I just borrowed the first season of Firefly for this weekend, and also Supernatural... I'm catching up with all my friends' fandoms!

Richie likes Methos, but really doesn't know what to make of him, even now. I think he'll find Jack a lot more straightforward.

You'll love Firefly, btw. Don't do SPN myself yet so can't comment on that though.

The idea behind the Firefly snippet is that The Doctor was at least partly responsible for pushing Derrial Book toward being a Shepherd and away from whatever it was he used to be (that is implied in the series but never elaborated upon) and would also possibly involve a post time-war Nine.
