11 - Genre - do you prefer certain genres of fic when you're writing? What kind do you tend to write most?
Crossovers! Over 80% of my fic is crossovers. Strictly speaking a crossover isn't a genre as such but I'm treating it as one, so there! Most of my stuff is also scifi/fantasy being based on the likes of Torchwood, Highlander, Dresden Files and Voyager.
As for sub-genres, I do love to write a good dollop of angst, occasionally with an added soupçon of h/c, even my smut is rarely completely angst free (even if it's just Ianto angsting about the weather). It could be said I get a bit emo at times! Having said that I'm not someone who subscribes to the 'lets kill everyone off and leave them reeling' school of thought; I need there to be a thread of hope to leaven the angst and I don't like too much death and destruction.
If I'm not emoting all over the place, I tend to go for quirky stuff, with slightly oddball humour I suppose. This is probably not surprising when you consider that the two writers I admire the most from a humour pov are Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams and that I can cheerfully quote chunks of Monty Python ad nauseam.
