Well the dark period of the life thing might be a reasonable secret if you didn't let anyone know you were in a dark period of your life.

That doesn't even make sense in regards to my comment. Everyone may have dark periods of their lives, but that has nothing to do with whether the rest of the world was aware of this particular dark period.

And what does the rest of the world owe this person? Is it some grand achievement to "get over bad stuff"? Good job, here's your cookie, now join the club!

I really dug the original Postsecret project as a social experiment and cathartic outlet for individuals. But fandomsecrets... smh, idgi

Yes, that. Postsecret is great, and I think in that context the idea works. But fandom? Fandom is not so SRS BSNS that people should harbor what amounts to repressed anxiety over it.

f_s is an easy way to talk about multiple fandoms, as well as keep updated on the major fandoms I'm not involved in, so. That's why I still read it. That and the occasional heartwarming/heartbreaking secret. The wankiness of it is ridiculous, though. Back when the comment threads weren't organized, there was less wank.

Wank...ARGH. I hate wank. We'll just leave it at that.

Also, since you never get on AIM...HOW BOUT THOSE UPDATES, HUH?

...Yup, pretty much.

I mean, in all fairness, there are some things that I could see wanting to keep secret... sometimes you just need to let something out, but you don't want everyone to know... but you still want people to comment on it, and hear their opinions, so that could be a regular, practical use for it. However. I totally take your point, and for the most part, agree with you.
