Oh my, wow.

This is epic. And the mention of the rape had me like this: O_O. I think this measured up to the title. It was so extreme, and yet I'm wondering what on earth exactly happened before this to make Draco take some very radical actions.

I find Snape's character throughout the confession very realistic and in-character. I like the odd thoughts he has whilst Draco is talking.

The last paragraph is, for a better word, wonderful. It "sums" everything up, clarifies what the reader is thinking and shows the impacting damage of primary and secondary socialisation on Draco; in particular: Lucius.

It would take a long time for that little boy to heal.

Perfect. <3

I think that was the best review I've ever gotten on anything I've ever written.

This chapter is probably the one that has affected me most as a writer, especially as I thought through the events that led up to it. Some of them will be explained as I finish writing the series of long drabbles, but some of them will be left to the readers' imaginations.

I'm glad Snape's character is realistic. I really dislike reading fanfics where he is portrayed completely differently than in the books.

So, thank you very much for the wonderful response.

You're very welcome. :)

I would have written more, but I couldn't find the words to describe my feelings for the fic. I think the word "epic" sums it all up, to be honest.

I'm looking forward to some more. However, at this moment I'm looking through your tagged entries to read some more, so I hope you don't mind exceptionally late comments.

"Epic" does sum it all up, actually. I love epic stories, especially those of Homer and Aeschylus.

Late comments don't bother me at all--they make me very happy.

I'm so amazed that everyone likes this as much as they do. I think it's pretty good, but I'm extremely biased.

As it is, I started out just trying to examine Draco's personality and background and how those two things would affect him during the "Final Battle" that we fans knew would come. So I started writing from Snape's and Draco's points of view as they looked back on the battle from the ruins of Hogwarts, and it just got darker and darker. Finally, there was just no more for me to say, because the two of them had said it all.

About that line: it really hit me when I got to that point of the story that Draco was experiencing the same things that all soldiers feel when first exposed to all-out war. They've played at being soldiers since they were little, and heard the stories of glory and victory, and then they're suddenly thrust into a world of blood and pain and suffering and death. And it overwhelms them a little. This is how I see Draco reacting to that.
