I'm going to make this one short because I'm exausted and Rose told me to go to sleep early.
First off, I talked to Rose today! Yay! And to Abi on Sunday! And Naomi too! Sort of... It's so nice to get to talk to you guys  and things will be easier to figure out once I finally iron out my schedule this week. I feel so happy! So loved! Lots of ( Read more... )

Yup. Saw them all over the place last year. Even met the cousin of a friend from Pittsburgh.

:)

See, I have a great audience for Mikayla. I can have people aspire to be her and volunteer with OneFamily as much as possible, hoping to catch a glance or two of "Nate" as he bounces in from Hadera to see some clients... lol...

Lol. Little does he know, I've ruined his life. He'll have fangirls chasing him everywhere. They'll be like "Hey Mickey, did you read that book with the seminary girl? So you are JUST LIKE that lawyer dude" and he'll be like "BAHAAHAHAA I AM NATE!!!"

Tee hee.

Most likely tomorrow night (Thursday) after my brother's hashba'a, but I don't know when exactly I'll be home 'cause the tekes itself starts at 7 or so and it's in Binyamina. I'll turn on my cellphone though.

How many people involved in "staff" stuff over there ARE there?
I'm trying to get stuff started here, and your & sunflower_sky's descriptions sound so different from the formal lines I get.

Well, first off where's "here"?
Secondly, there were four whistles and five suits trained last year and they are now our "head" whistles and suits. This past summer another five suits and around eight assistants were trained and they (we) are now helping teaching the courses.
And thirdly, I don't know what formal lines you're getting but bear in mind that Dee and I can't (or aren't supposed) to say toomuch about how the course works, on-line or otherwise. Plus, and I speak for myself in this matter, I don't usually spill all on LJ anyway. I'm not a natural writer and a lot of thinking is involved in what I post. In addition, it's mostly for my friends who see me every weekend and so I have time to fill in the gaps. I also rely on themcommenting so I can explain more.

Well, lemme tell ya, the place I took my class is not churning out whistles & suits at that rate, which makes me sad.

I think chapters need that many whistles & suits per chapter so there'll actually be capacity to handle increased demand...which I think would be a cinch to get in this internet age.

I want to learn to instruct, and I also would like, if possible, to get a chapter started in my hometown (not where I took my basics course...I had to travel for it), but nobody seems keen to help me with either, they work at such a turtle's rate. They're like the trees in Lord of the Rings. I trust that they've got their reasons for slowness, but boy is it frustrating. And it tempts me to no end when I see descriptions of a chapter like yours. It makes me ask, "Why? Why? Why? Why the slowness? Because it's necessary or because you're stuck in the 90's when recruiting didn't have Myspace?"

Well, I think the chapter over here in Israel is the newest chapter opened - about a year and a half old. And I think the reason it's only one chapter so far is because 1)it's such a small country 2) IMPACT is a really tough thing to sell as it is. You should know, having taken the course, how hard it is to decide to go. Both because of the money issue and how girls are taught that they can't hit/fight back, therefore they wouldn't want to be put in a position where they would have to fight.
Also, the way we got a chapter opened over here we by the pushing and pulling of two people who were already at the top of a center that teaches all sorts of martial arts/ self defense specificly to women. And they had connections.
I'm not saying it's impossible. I'n saying it's gonna be hard.
Where did you take your course? Where cav you take an assisting course?
