Huh.

My, is there a lot of hatred being spewed out there or what? Not that I didn't expect it after election day, but it still boggles my mind. This was a dirty race, there's no doubt about that; and it seems like there is only going to be more dirt flung about. It would have happened regardless of who became president, though. Such a nasty, unpleasant ( Read more... )

A wiser man than me once said that a baby is God's opinion that the world should go on.

I certainly have to agree with that sentiment. There's sure nothing more hopeful.

It's like the big guy looks at all the crap in the world, sighs and gives us one more chance to be everything he hoped we would be.

Yeah, I've tried to keep my anger and bile to specific things that have nothing to do with Bush. Seriously, there are other issues out there.

And yeah, you have every right to be happy. You have a little one to care for, a bit of light in these crazy times. And well, it's yet another reason to work on improving the world, one step at a time.

Yes, there are. The gay marriage one you've written about is one of the big buttons for me, too. This world seriously needs less prejudice. I sincerely would love it become so rare/non-existent a concept that I'd have to explain it to Madison when she's an adult. That's one issue that should never have to be faced again. It's up to people like us to make it a non-issue. With our passion on the subject, I'd like to think we can make huge strides.

Yeah, I do my best, as I know you do too, to educate the intolerant as much as I can. I figure that being able to, as a straight person, calmly and nonchalantly mention my non-straight friends, clear up myths, etc. helps out a lot. Just like racism and other intolerance issues which haven't completely left us yet, it will take a lot of time.

I have faith, though.

And I didn't get into stuff like the Patriot Act, immigration issues, foreign affairs, copyright, etc. that while they have some things to do with Bush, are often messed up by both major parties.

I think that having faith is one of the most important things we can do. If we push on, believing that we'll come out on top, we'll do it. Even the small victories are big in this. I think we've probably both seen some of those.

Both sides have their strengths and their weaknesses. I happen to believe in some things from each of them. I guess it's just a matter of prioritizing at any given time. This time it just happened that neither side satisfied me at all. Let us hope for more sanity in four years.

Aww, thanks for mentioning me in a positive light. Some people want to make me out to be some sort of lazy slacker who's content with Bush squishing the rights out of me. v_v;

And good luck to baby Madison. May she grow up strong and completely awesome like me. ^_^

I understood completely what you meant, so it was easy for me. I refuse to dwell on the bad points of this and try and keep things in that positive light you're shining. I think we have to do that. I'd be doing it if Kerry won, too. I seriously don't think he'd have been much, if at all, better.

Thanks! I think her chances are good to be so awesome. After all, I can use you as a role model, right? And hey, she seems to have the silliness part down. What's more important than that?

::hugs::
