Tulane aired this new documentary on the state of new orleans public schools last night and it was sadly not terribly surprising and still abosolutely enraging. I grew up in this system and knew only a fraction of how bad it actually is. Holla at me if you get it screened at Loyola, I'd really like to see it,

If you wanted to pass along the message to Loyola/Tulane, there is something you can do to help. Our schools desperately need supplies and I would LOVE to get a tutoring program started; most of the kids at my school hadn't been in a classroom for more than a semester before we opened last month. Also, we can ALWAYS use things like instruments, staplers, pencils, paper, instruments, books, instruments, etc.

Did you read the last entry I posted? Every damn one of those kids has a story like that, and they're being put into an inadequate education system. GRAR.
