Working it out

I decided that, while I enjoy the mental break of walking/running on a treadmill while watching tv shows on my iPhone, I don't think it's doing all that much for my body shape or posture. Weight lifting is really the way to go, I think. And I keep reading that free weights and using your own body weight resistance is better than the machines. So ( Read more... )

Actually I used to have a weight bench. I think it ended up at the dump after the cats ripped open the padding and it sat outside for a long while. My basement often smells like a cat litter box so I'm much rather be at the gym looking out at the cascades :)

I didn't know the weight machines were on more than one floor. I think once I spent about forty-five minutes looking for my favorite ones to little avail, gave up and used the rowing machine instead.

I like weight training because the impact of jogging is kind of rough on me. It feels good to be strong. Good luck ! :)

w00t for weights! As far as having to search all over for the equipment you need, i'd suggest to keep it simple. There's a lot you can do with just one bar, or a kettlebell, or a pair of dumbells.

It is great to be outside, working out in a park. I have been doing things I never thought I could. I think the closest would be Volunteer Park for you. I believe there is at least one other group that offers this type of class in Seattle
