I really like this Blaine. At the very beginning, when he called Kurt a spinster, I thought, "Cool, that's quite a set of spines he's grown," because he wasn't simply standing up to Kurt, standing up for himself; he was being sharp about it. It makes him seem older, somehow. I feel bad that he pushes Kurt, though; Kurt has said he's not in love with Blaine, and I know Blaine's hurt, but he does love Kurt, and if he'd back off a little, he'd get that happy ending without angst... but that would be bad for the story, wouldn't it? :-)

Kurt can see all of this slipping away quite quickly, the friendship he had recovered, the most important person who had ever been a part of his life once more about to walk away from him again because they were both too stupid and blind to see the warning signs that were coming. He wants to save what they have but he has no idea how to do that. He wishes he could believe they are capable of sharing what they once had all over again, but he can’t bring himself to see it. Just look at what’s happening now. ( ... )

“Maybe I am self-centered. Maybe I do wrap myself in the belief that the world revolves around me because I’m too terrified of the thought that no one else gives a damn about me, so maybe if I pretend the whole world would cease to exist without me it doesn’t hurt as much!"

Oh...my...GAH!!! I never read ff that really speaks to me but I swear those were my words and feelings coming from Kurt's lips :(

WHOA

I read through Seasons May Change and We Are the Oceans, but initially avoided this one because I assumed with Disney (and the title) this would clearly be the fluffiest and silliest fic. However-- this is filled with so much more real angst and heartbreak, by virtue of them as adults with a past break-up, and I think this is definitely my favorite of yours. You've nailed Kurt and Blaine quite well, which makes it all the more painful (in the best way!).
