At sethimothy's suggestion, we began reading Economics in one Lesson by Henry Hazlitt.  It started straightforward enough, setting as its goal to discuss some common logical fallacies in relation to economic theory and practice.  The first couple chapters are fine; he seems to take a rather disgruntled tone, but it's difficult to find someone discussing ( Read more... )

Well I'm sorry in the end it didn't work out for you, although I'm not surprised once the book went into "The lesson applied" I started having some notable reservations myself. Mostly though, holy hell someone took a book recommendation of mine seriously that almost never happens. :O Thanks!

hee, sure thing. Still going to read it! Just had to put it down last night as my brain gets testy whenever someone leaps to an assumption without providing any logic to it (the same reason I have some trouble reading Richard Dawkins' work).
