Eventful Weekends

It was a decent weekend of good weather and outings with friends.  I announced during the week that I wouldn't be continuing the D&D game on the weekend but might do so the next one.  (The previous weekend, my house mates, some mutual friends, and I played a session of the Diablo campaign in which I'm the dungeon master ( Read more... )

my methylphenidate - since my psychiatrist recommends only taking it as needed, so as not to create a dependency

What specific diagnosis are you taking it for? I'm curious about your psychiatrist's reasoning, since I never was warned about, nor did I develop, any dependency when taking it for its cognitive usefulness. But then, I always have tended to take lower doses than my doctors thought I should, so that may have something to do with it. (Oh, and if you're anything like me, you should probably eat something high-protein within half an hour to an hour of taking it. Also, get plenty of sleep or taking it will only backfire!)

Ahem. Anyway, I'm glad you had a great weekend. :-) I was with you guys in spirit, but my body spent most of Sunday in bed.

It's for ADHD, and I mentioned at some point that during the week or two I didn't have it - because I'd lost my prescription - I noticed a substantial difference from the times I was taking it. (It's usually easier to notice the difference a drug is making when you're no longer taking it.)

I noted my inability to concentrate or do much of anything, as well as my general lack of memory during the times I don't take it; it becomes a lot more difficult for me to remember what happened on days that I haven't taken it, especially if it's several days in a row. But I'm only on the minimum dosage (20 mg), and I think it would be more useful for me to take it each morning as per the prescription, rather than skip days because I don't have anything important to do on those days.

Also, hope the time spent in bed was helpful for you. (^*^) I'm sure I'll see you around sometime, especially if I put special effort into getting out more (and continue to get some assistance in that matter).
