I'm personally a fan of unobtrusive watermarks in corners, or short site urls.

It kind of depends on what kind of watermark. Generally, I actually like a small watermark near the corner on art.

Big fat ones across entire pictures generally tend to ruin the thing for me... But if your concerned about art theft, that would be a valid option.
