To the Police!

What: Denise Marmalade signs up to be Adachi wants to be a cop here, too.

Another one? Was this his lucky day or something? Who else was going to walk through the door?

"Transfer application?" Well, at least this one didn't come with a glowing recommendation. "It's over on the counter. While you're there..bring me a cup of coffee."

Such an easy task! A cup of coffee! All she had to do was pour it without spilling and safely carry it over to the main in charge.

"Understood, sir!" She quickly went to work on the cup of joe and brought it over to him, not spilling it at all (which was an accomplishment). "I'll begin filling out the application right away, sir! Mind if I ask you your rank?"

Oh, he was going to like this new recruit. She went and got his coffee without a single thought. "I run this place. I suppose you can say I'm the chief detective."

And hey, she didn't spill it like Adachi would have. Things were looking up after the last week of hell.

[sgt_marmalade]

"C-c-chief detective? I'm sorry for calling you sir, sir. I mean, chief! I'll use more respect from now on! Is there a specific Japanese honorific you prefer, s--chief?"

Now she was completely flustered. Dealing with the higher ups had never been her strong suit, even back home.
